Cuando las raíces se hacen más profundas se llega hasta Italia. Las voces de Kalàscima son un canto a lo más profundo del ser humano. Te llevan a lo primitivo, a las sombras de la caverna, pero te transportan allí con una máquina del tiempo llena de sintetizadores. Son pulpos virtuosos o tarántulas de mil patas que te harán entrar en trance con su picadura meridional. Nada se les escapa en su red de araña: hay una maraña de cuerdas, panderetas, gaitas, flautas y otros vientos, sonidos eléctricos, batería y bongos.

Kalàscima is one of Italy's hottest bands, this international acclaimed group mesh the ancient traditional ritual dance music of Taranta (Salento, Southern Italy) with influences such as Balkan, Klezmer, Irish, electronic music.

Explosive, energetic, captivating, Kalàscima feature many fascinating instruments (bagpipe, traditional flutes, italian organetto), a spectacularly vast array of percussion from South Italy and from all over the world (rick, darbouka), thrilling vocal and modern instrument (bass guitar and loop machine).

Since 2010 they are one of the most recognized Italian band in the World Music panorama. Kalàscia has been touring in AustraliaEcuadorCanada, Japan, South Korea, USA and many Europen countries. Australasian World Music Expo (Australia, 2013), Mundial Montreal (Canada, 2017), South by South West of Austin (USA, 2017), Medimex (Italy, 2012) Sziget Festival (Hungary, 2013), Colours of Ostrava (Czech Republic, 2016), Roskilde (Denmark, 2016) has already enjoyed their powerful live.

Collaboration and other projects

The musicians of the band, are stable members in some of the most important European Folk band and orchestras including the Orchestra Popolare "La Notte della Taranta " (directed by Ludovico Einaudi, Steward Copeland, Mauro Pagani, Joe Zawinul), the “Orchestra Popolare Italiana” from the prestigious Auditorium "Parco della Musica" in Rome, the Pizzicata Orchestra, the Orchestra of Sicily. They performed all over the world (Messico, China, Egypt, Norway, USA, Russia, Germany, Denmark, Bulgaria, Spain, Portugal, ecc.). These characteristics and specificity make “Kalàscima” a band with many participation in national and International Festivals. In fact, they have shared stage with artist such as Buena Vista Social Club, Franco Battiato, Carmen Consoli, Nidi d'Arac, Carlos Nuñez or Ludovico Einaudi.
